Chillum gives Romeo new look, by Aisher Ahmad

Weekly Observer, 30th March - 5th April, 2006

Mention Romeo and every movie fan will think of Romeo and Juliet. But Uganda has its own Romeo Akiiki, the voice behind No Parking and many other songs.

Now under the production of CHiLLUM Woods Sound, a new production group that works mainly with contemporary African music, Akiiki has many things up his sleeve for his fans.

He says; "My level of creativity has moved on from the young pop musician to singing music without frontiers and I am sure this is good news for my fans."

Akiiki is set to launch his new 10-song album on April 1, 2006 at Blue Mango in Bukoto. Akiiki continues to sing in his mother tongue, giving his music a local touch and making it unique from the usual dancehall, pop, hip hop and R&B music Ugandans are used to. He describes his music as "purely acoustic, simple, local but global."

CHiLLUM Woods Sound is an African reggae project that specialises in quality productions of live and studio based projects. Currently it takes on artistes by invite only.
